Affect Balance Scale

Description: A measure of overall experienced psychological well-being at a given point in time [1].

Format: A 10-item rating scale containing 5 statements reflecting positive feelings and 5 statements reflecting negative feelings.

Scoring: The scale is scored on a range from – 5 (worst) to + 5 (best).

Administration and Burden: Self-administered.

Psychometrics for SCI: Not available.

Languages: English, Dutch.

QoL Concept: The Affect Balance Scale is a measure of Subjective Well-Being, which corresponds to Box E (subjective evaluations and reactions; self-esteem) of Dijker’s Model.
